Rock Out ALS Mission Statement and Executive Summery:

Mission Statement:

It is the Mission of Rock Out ALS to:

1. Use Live Popular Music as a vehicle to Raise Awareness of ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease and MND (Motor Neuron Disease).

2. Unite the Music Industry behind Awareness and Financial Support of ALS.

3. Educate the General Public about what ALS is, What it Does and most importantly how the public can help.

4. Assist and Support other Organizations in their Fundraising Efforts and Campaigns that benefit ALS Research / ALS Patients.

5. Build it’s campaign to the same National/International level of exposure as Live Aid, Farm Aid, Susan P Komen Breast Cancer Awareness and the Jerry Lewis Telethon for MDA. 

Executive Summary:

Rock Out ALS is an Independent Organization, with loyalties to no single outside organization, but welcomes opportunities to work with other organizations or groups in order to raise awareness or funds for their events that benefit ALS Research and/or Patient Support by offering it’s resources and experience.

Rock Out ALS does not believe in “Preaching to the Choir”. Those that have ALS, Lost someone to ALS, or been Exposed to ALS have already made their decisions as to how they wish to be involved. It is the belief of Rock Out ALS that by increasing the amount of awareness amongst the General Public, that it can broaden the stream of income and support for the outside organizations that so desperately need it. 

Unless otherwise specified, Funds raised by Rock Out ALS from it’s independently produced shows will be retained by Rock Out ALS to continue it’s efforts of raising awareness. Whenever a distribution of those funds is possible, Rock Out ALS will distribute funds to those outside organizations, foundations, or groups that it has the best relationship with and/or believes to have the best impact on ALS and the ALS Community.

Rock Out ALS plans on operating in every major city of the US, starting in no more than two in any state until it is running in at least one city per state. Each city will have it’s own “chapter”. Each Chapter will be run by a Volunteer or Group of Volunteers and Supervised by a Regional Director. Regional Directors must first run a chapter as a volunteer for more than 12 consecutive months. 

Rock Out ALS chapters will hold a minimum of 3 Rock Shows a Year and a maximum of 8. The purpose of these shows is to generate the largest possible captive audience, comprised mostly of fans of the bands booked to play, so that the audience can be educated about ALS and Rock Out ALS through videos, demonstrations, literature and guest speakers. Rock Out ALS will be honest and blunt about the disease and NEVER “candy coat” the realities of ALS. Rock Out ALS generates income from these shows through ticket sales, raffles, merchandise sales and direct donations. 

Rock Out ALS is Governed by a National Board of Directors. That board will be supervised by an Executive Director. The responsibility of the Executive Director is to Manage the progress and growth of Rock Out ALS, Supervise and train the volunteers and Regional Directors. The Executive Director will spend no more than a 5 year term.
