The Ketchum Classic

The Ketchum Classic is a charity event supporting research aimed at finding a treatment for those battling ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). Todd Ketchum was diagnosed with ALS in the fall of 2010 and is committed to help find a cure for this devastating disease. The first Ketchum Classic was held in September 2011 at the historic Longwood Cricket Club in Chestnut Hill, MA. With a goal of raising $50,000 for ALS Research, many friends, family, and colleagues came together to show their support. The event sold out quickly and raised three times more than originally anticipated, $150,000, pointing to the success of the Ketchum Classic and the support of the family toward finding a cure.

The Third Annual Ketchum Classic was held on September 28, 2013 at The Longwood Cricket Club. This was an opportunity to continue to raise funds for research and raise awareness about the disease, while also enjoying the venue of The Longwood Cricket Club; a place and a community the Ketchums have enjoyed as a family. The afternoon and evening included tennis for all who wished to play, cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and a silent and live auction.

This year we have enlisted the help of The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) to help plan and manage the Event.  MDA’s Augie’s Quest is solely dedicated to funding ALS research. 100% of the proceeds raised will go to Augie’s Quest which will again benefit the ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI) based in Cambridge, MA.  The mission of ALS TDI is to develop effective therapeutics that stop ALS as soon as possible. The Institute's unique, industrial-scale platform allows for the development and testing of dozens of potential therapeutics each year. Built by and for patients, the Institute is the world's largest ALS research center and the only nonprofit biotechnology company with more than 30 professional scientists focused solely on ALS.
