ProductsALS Angels was created by close friends who had something in common... the devastating terminal neurological disease, ALS. My mother, Vonnie Austin was diagnosed with ALS early in 2000 after undergoing several frustrating tests over a period of 1 year only to get what we were told was "the worst news possible". Unfortunately, she lost her battle in 2001 and continues to missed by her family and friends.
About four years ago some close friends, Betsy and Tom Anderson, called to say that they were moving from Virginia back to Texas! We were so excited only to learn the reason for their move was that Tom had been diagnosed with ALS in June, 2008. Our link was strong and our friendship took off like they had never moved away. Over the ensuing two years, Tom, Betsy, Rob and I had several conversations about ALS regarding the need for awareness, therapies and support for families struggling with the disease. Together as friends and family members we made the decision to form ALS Angels.
We are committed to supporting ALS TDI because they are leading the fight and offer the best opportunity in the short term to find therapies and hopefully someday a cure. ALS Angels also reserves a small percentage of funds to help local families in need in the DFW area. We are a young organization that fully donates our time while also relying on a group of amazing volunteers. ALS can strike anyone at anytime and we are committed to using our energies to put an end to other families receiving "the worst news possible". We have big dreams and hope that you will support us with our mission.
